Low Emission Zone
Since 1 January 2018, the most polluting vehicles are prohibited in the LEZ of the Brussels-Capital Region have been banned from circulation in order to improve air quality and, as a result, public health. The rule applies to cars, vans ≤ 3.5 tonnes, buses and coaches, whether they are registered in Belgium or abroad.
It applies to all vehicles in categories M1, M2, M3 or N1 (excluding N1 vehicles with a bodywork code BC, to which the kilometre charge for heavy loads applies).
Vehicles registered abroad must also adhere to the criteria for entering the LEZ. In order to be checked, the registration is compulsory for all vehicles in category M (M1, M2, M3) and N1 registered abroad.
The registration must be carried out before your visit, via an electronic form. This process is free of charge.
